Current campaign activity

Why Me? is working in a number of different ways to get our voice across.

  • The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders bill is currently before parliament.  Working with our partner organisations including the Restorative Justice Council (RJC) and the Criminal Justice Alliance (CJA) we are campaigning to promote the inclusion of a clause which includes Restorative Justice in the statutory framework.
  • We are working to influence MPs, members of the House of Lords, MSPs, MWAs, senior police, probation and prison staff along with representatives of local authorities to recognise RJ as a crucial tool within the criminal justice system and as a method for resolving lower level conflict such as neighbourhood and community disputes.

Call to action: Write to your MP or friendly Lord to ask them to support the RJ amendment!

  • We are setting up a project to “broker” RJ sessions between offenders and the victims of the crimes they’ve committed.

Call to action: Contact us if you want to partner with us on this project and share case studies

  • We are collecting the stories of victims who have experienced RJ and (with their agreement of course) are using these stories to illustrate our campaign and to promote RJ to victims of crime.

Call to action: If you have a story to tell about RJ, then get in touch by ringing or emailing us, or sharing your story.
